Marsha. Queen of Diamonds/Marsha’s Scheme of Diamonds
Plot:Marsha is after the giant diamond that powers the Bat Computer and tries to marry Batman to get it
Guest Stars:Carolyn Jones as Marsha (clearly channeling her Mortica Adams character)
Trivia:Zsa Zsa Gabor almost got the role but she will be on in Season 3
Niitpick:Is it just me? Why does Marsha have to marry Batman? Yeah she does it to get into he Batcave but it still makes no sense. I said the last Penguin episode reminded me Batman Returns. This one reminds me of Batman & Robin.
Bat Silliness:The frogs (you wont believe it)
Bat Gadget:We find out that there is a massive Bat Diamond powering the Bat Computer. And of course bat antidote for anything and everything.
Bat Trap:Marsha tries to marry Batman (I wish I was kidding). It is funny to see Aunt Harriett be in on stopping the wedding with Alfred. Why do I get the feeling Madge Blake asked for more to do? Alfred could have stopped the wedding himself but including Aunt Harriet was a nice addition.
Final Thoughts:We got some acting yesterday from Alan Napier here it’s Stafford Repp and Neil Hamilton who get to stretch their muscles a little. Apparently Marsha has some kind of siren power to seduce men. It’s not as silly as a voice, she uses cupid arrows. Groan. She keeps men in giant bird cages too (is that where the idea for that Just Shoot Me episode came from?). Batman gets struck too but puts up a decent fight, for a little while. When Robin is struck Batman relents to marry Marsha so she will spare Robin. I bet you think that’s the whole plot? Nah of course not, Marsha has a witch assistant named Hilda who clearly doesn’t understand potions. Any fool knows a potion needs to be ingested to work, not be thrown onto the person. She helps Marsha by coming up with a potion. What does it do? It’s supposed to turn Batman and Robin into frogs, which it totally doesn’t. But the episode wants us to think it did! What can you say about an episode that shows two frogs in Batman and Robin capes, talking to Gordon and O’Hara? Yes, I said talking. Apparently Marsha’s helper took Super Ventriloquism lessons from Superman. Not only can he make his voice sound like its from the frogs he can also imitate Batman and Robin perfectly. Part 1 is ok but Part 2 goes from pointless filler to just plain ridiculous. My favorite part is hearing how Batman escaped a trap we never saw them put into.
Grade :D-, this is a great episode of Bewitched. Seriously though usually the episodes are silly but still make sense. This is off the wall and so lame there isn’t even a tag, like the episode was anxious to end already. And man is the ham thick in this one.
(just in case you thought I was joking)
Thank goodness we wont get a Siren villain in season 3, or that would be an obvious rehash of this episode (wink, wink). We get a cowboy tomorrow, same bat time Same bat channel!
