Batman (1966) Episode 37&38

Episodes 37 & 38
Hott Off the Griddle/The Cat and the Fiddle

Plot::Catwoman’s small crimes lead to a larger scheme.

Guest Stars:Julie Newmar is back!

Trivia:The show isn’t usually tight with continuity, but does acknowledge Catwoman was presumed dead in her last episode. Don’t ask where the movie fits in then.

Niitpick:Batman is awesome, but he was still using a rotary phone! James Brolin makes a very early appearance here.

Bat Silliness:Apparently Joker called Catwoman for a date but she hates his green hair. Always pay the parking meter!!

Bat Gadget:Bat Jets to lift an elevator car

Bat Trap:Batman and Robin blunder into a room where the hot floor makes them dance,,what ? And finally the duo are put on giant grill’s with giant magnifying glasses directing heat onto them. I give them credit for foreshadowing the event that helps them escape. But that’s about it.

Final Thoughts: It’s so nice to see Catwoman again. I know I make fun of Batman setting up traps that don’t work in part 1 of every episode. My problem isn’t that he’s being proactive, but these plans never work which isn’t very Batman. Here he decides to trust a sleazy reporter that even he knows may not be trustworthy. Guess what happens? And then he gets a clue to where Catwoman is almost by accident followed by awful 60’s music.. But thank goodness he always acts better in Part 2. To bad her real scheme is boring really. Though Batman pulls the solution to what her plan is out of his a**. Newmaar is awesome as always (even doing an effective dual role) and Batman and Catwoman’s chemistry is still perfect, buoying an otherwise mediocre outing.

GradeC I love Julie Newmar but this script is stupid. At least we get to see Aunt Harriett boogie
