My friends, this one is so long overdue I can’t believe I haven’t done it yet. The reason is, to my surprise, finding pictures for this hasn’t been as easy as you’d expect. Especially when looking for pictures of the set empty of any actors. You’d think there’d be a ton!
As you know I love sitcoms, well that includes the sets for the homes and other locales these shows had their activity in. Today I wanted to discuss on just living rooms. And people often don’t notice all the detail these sets have. Here are twenty of my favorite sitcom living rooms, and don’t expect any in depth analysis on the decor. I’m no decorator and am not very smart about that. I am just a fan.
Three’s Company
I always liked this apartment because it felt very “LA” to me. And who in the world has doors like that?
Two and a Half Men
If you took the Three’s Company apartment and threw money into it, you’d have this one.
The Golden Girls
And I never had any trouble believing this was set in Florida. Don’t all homes in FL look like this? Nice open space and way, way to much wicker.
The Cosby Show
So yeah some of these pictures will be better than others. What I liked about this living is that while there are African American artifacts, it doesn’t overwhelm the room. It could be the living room of any upper middle class family.
Facts of Life
I’m not as familiar with this one since I am more familiar with the later season upgrade they gave the set.
Frasier
I am not thrilled with this pic since it’s only a small part of the apartment but we get the couch and, of course, Martin’s chair.
The Brady Bunch
Always found it funny that an architect lived her. Not much to it, love the 70’s furniture. And I know the picture isn’t perfect.
Roseanne
I always kind of liked that afghan. The set was just so fitting for this kind of show, blue collar.
Full House
So many curiosities here. What was up with that statue? Why the long staircase? And that polka dot couch doesn’t seem to match anything (at one point there was a matching chair).
Will & Grace
A lawyer in New York City would have an upscale apartment and this fits him to a tee. It’s one time we don’t have to wonder how the characters can afford where they live.
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
Actually this was the second set. The set in the first season was so boring they realized they needed to spice it up so it would like a home in Bel Air. Mission accomplished.
Growing Pains
It kills me this is the best picture I could find. I love this living room, it’s no wonder Hangin w Mr.Cooper stole it for their pilot
Who’s The Boss?
Same here, this is the best picture? Anyway the stone fireplace was awesome and the couch always looks so comfortable. This feels like Connecticut residence.
Step By Step
Another awful picture of the Lambert living room
Family Matters
I always liked the look of the Winslow home here, even if it didn’t match the exterior shot (oh we’ll be covering that in time my friends). It feels like a nice cozy home. To bad Urkel trashed it ;)
2 Broke Girls
They did a nice job making it clear that there are two struggling female’s living here
Big Bang Theory
And there's Sheldon's spotFriends
So we end on one of my absolute favorites. I loved the apartment in Friends, it had so much character!
as did Ross’s place give credit to the set designers for realizing his place would be his own unique style.
and finally it isn’t a living room but it’s designed like one..
Central Perk from Friends.
Plenty I did not mention, mostly because I could not fine any pictures, and maybe I will come back with more. For now, comment and let me know what your favorite TV living room is.
All these living rooms, and you don't show your own?
ReplyDeleteI'm kidding. I couldn't blame you since mine is definitely pretty drab right now. :)
it's not worth the pic I assure you ;)
DeleteFamily matters either renovated the wall, or you have the wrong room for it. Found a bunch of differences comparing it to a clip on YouTube
