Welcome back to Underrated Trek, where I take a special look at Star Trek episodes that I love…which may not be the most popular or even liked by most. But today we're doing something extra special. You see, today is the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. Yep, 60 years ago today the first episode aired. I tried to decide what to review for this occasion. My first thought was to discuss what I consider the very best episode ever, "Amok Time", but I already did that. Instead, let's take a trip to where it all began. The original unsold pilot....

Believe it or not, I've never watched the pilot in its entirety. Yes, I've seen "The Menagerie" a bunch of times so I know the story. I've also talked about how that episode is mostly a bore! But I’ve never watched the pilot as it was intended. is it better in its original, unedited form? Let's discuss. And, no. We’re not discussing SNW here.
