Episodes 11 & 12
A Riddle A Day Keeps the Riddler Away/When the Rats Away the Mice will Play
Plot:-Riddler kidnaps a visiting King Boris and its up to our heroes to find out why
Guest Stars:Frank Gorshin as the Riddler
Trivia:We Riddler wearing a two piece Riddler suit, which Gorshin prefered to the spandex
Niitpick:Was this formula every episode? Batman sets a trap for the villain, that fails, and he ends up in a trap himself? I guess I never caught on as a kid . What was the point of these hench women the villains had? They almost never served a purpose and were usuallt portrayed as dumb bimbos. At least in Star Trek the women were there for a reason in universe.
Bat Silliness:The Royal Mushroom Club?
Bat Gadget:Batmobile is equipped with a Homing Receiver Scope
Bat Trap:Batman and Robin tied to giant wheels which will tear them apart . A good trap that’s ruined when dumb luck lets them escape (yes that happens a lot, I know)
Final Thoughts:Finally, a good episode!. Unlike the last Riddler episode which tried to hard to have a story, here we just get riddles as Batman tries to figure out what he’s up to. Gorshin puts his mark on the character a lot better here too. In the last episode all he seemed to do is laugh here he feels more like a developed character (yes the classic laugh is still there). There’s a clever scene where Riddler uses a fake Batman to trick the Commissioner…with Bruce Wayne in the room! And don’t worry Gordon didn’t buy it either, he just played along because Wayne was there.
Grade:A good mystery and good use of the villain. First one I really liked re watching so far
Come back tomorrow as we meet The Mad Hatter. Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel!
