Batman (1966) Episode 25& 26

Episodes 25 & 26
The Joker Trumps an Ace/Batman Sets The Pace

Plot:Joker’s senseless robberies are part of a plot against a visiting maharajah

Guest Stars:Cesar Romero as The Joker

Trivia:Based on a comic book story

Niitpick:I love how when the doors to the Bat Poles open a big sign explains that is the way to the BatCave. Subtle. And it’s been 45 years and I still don’t get how the clothing change works. Do Bruce and Dick stop midway, change, and keep dropping? I know in the movie we see Bruce flip a switch on the way down (and even how they use the poles to go back up) but I still need answers! When does the clothing change happen? Do they stop and change? Is Alfred there waiting for them? Star Trek gets away with the transporter because it’s sci fi, how do the damn BatPoles work!!!

Bat Silliness:At one point we see Gordon has been waiting all night in his office for Batman to call. Sure.

Bat Gadget:Batman uses a bat arrow to penetrate Joker’s disguise

Bat Trap:Batman and Robin trapped in a smoke stack filling with gas

Final Thoughts:Joker is back! Didn’t we just see him? Anyway, this episode moves from school’s to golf courses where the visiting dignitary uses solid gold golf clubs. Except the Joker kidnaps the Maharajah instead. For some reason Joker uses jokes the way Riddler uses riddles, but it makes no sense Joker never uses jokes like that (and they don’t figure into the story). The clever ways Joker keeps tricking Batman is funny though. Part one stops the story cold for some reason and part two finally gets back to the what Joker is planning. And it’s kind of underwhelming. Though points for that twist in the end I didn’t see coming. Oh I’m calling it a cliche now, the girl working with the Joker changes her tune when Jokes tries to kill the duo. Of course.

Grade:A, Man I said it before I’ll say it again, Romero really got this character!! By the way the dumbest tag, when Gordon calls Batman just to ask him if a rumor is true. That’s abusing the Bat Phone! Bruce himself can’t understand why the call is coming during the tag (LOL). The episode is packed with padding but Ceasar Romero and that twist ending save it.

A true fan favorite makes his first appearance tomorrow. Same Bat Time! Same Bat Channel
