The Thirteenth Hat/Batman Stands Pat

Plot::Mad Hatter is after the Batman’s cowl and the jury that convicted him.

Trivia:Mad Hatter is one of the few to get a real name, Jervis Tetch

 

 

Niitpick:It never made sense to me why Hatter wanted Batman’s cowl. It turns out Batman testified against the Hatter. Did we need the personal grudge?

 

 

Bat Silliness:One of the first episodes where Alfred takes part in the plot which he will do a lot.

 

Bat Gadget:Giant Lucite Map of Gotham City. Man that Batcave has everything

 

 

Bat Trap:Batman is encased in super fast hardening Plaster of Paris. Mad Hatter spends a good deal of time showing off an elaborate death trap, The trap is not the cliffhanger and is defeated very easily during the end fight.

 

 

Final Thoughts: I never liked this villain. In the show or the comics. But that doesn’t mean Wayne does a bad job of course. I do like that the show wasn’t afraid to use the less than popular characters from the comics. As I said above, wanting Batman’s cowl makes no sense to me. I wish the show had explained why he needed to steal hats psychological. The kidnap victims are almost an afterthought which is weird and I do think it takes Batman to long to figure out it’s the jurors Hatter is after (to be fair, even Batman acknowledges this in a cute line). I should add a category to discuss the token female of the episode, here she’s working with Hatter and isn’t just a bimbo to be eye candy. She does help Hatter. Of course she repents in the end.

 

 

Grade:B-I don’t they think they took full advantage of the hat gimmick, Hatter only did one thing with his hat (mesmerize people which was defeated by,,,a mirror!).and in the comics they had other features (similar to Penguin’s umbrella’s)
