Batman (1966) Episode 3&4

Episodes 3&4
Fine Feathered Finks/The Penguins a Jinx

Plot:Penguin tricks Batman into planning crimes for him

Guest Stars:Burgess Meredith makes his first of many appearances. I love how this guy did so many crazy characters that Penguin is just a blip on the radar. He owned that role maybe more than any other actor/character.

Trivia:Based on a  real comic story

Niitpick:The whole plot point of Bruce Wayne bugging the Penguin is a total waste of time

Bat Silliness:

Bat Gadget:The Batzooka

Bat Trap:I get the feeling not a lot of thought was put into these in the early days, here we just had Bruce being conveyor belted into a burning stove.

Final Thoughts:The tone is better to bad the episode is a bore. A lot of scenes of people watching screens and commenting on what they are hearing. Yay. The first half has almost no action at all. And the second half isn’t much better. One cool line when Gordon explains that Batman dresses as a bat to scare criminals. They hardly tapped into Batman’s origin on the show but that line is something. Penguin is very much like his comic counterpart, pretending to go straight only to slip back into crime. In fact this episode was based on a comic book which I assume was better than this episode.

Grade:D, Burgess Meredith can’t save this the way Gorshin saved the last one.For whatever reason, this episode just didn’t grab me.

By the way would you believe all these years and I never noticed the year 1966 was on Batman’s license plate?
