Episodes 105 & 106 & 107
The Londinium Larcenies/The Foggiest Notion/ The Bloody Tower
Plot:Batman travels to London (er, Londinium) to solve a spree of baffling robberies
Guest Stars:Rudy Vallee as Lord Marmaduke Ffogg Glynnis Johns as Lady Penelope Peasoup (I wish I were kidding).
Trivia:This would be Madge Blake’s final as Aunt Harriett and also the show’s last three part episode.
Niitpick:Bewitched did a multi part story set in Salem, Mass that I hated because it went on forever and ever. I swear this episode is homaging that because it;s just a long and just as boring. And why go to London if the show isn’t going to really go there, the redressed sets are so obvious. And don’t get me started on how Alfred got the Batmobile and the Bat Computer over there! Also recycles, the Black Widow’s music plays throughout the episode..for some reason.
Bat Silliness:All the English names are homages even one’s that don’t really need to be. Including London itself which is called “Londinium”. What?? And they use the word fog about a thousand times.
Bat Gadget:Recollection Cycle Bat Restorer. The English has his own cute bat phone. Anti Fog Bat Spray that apparently he always has in his utility belt. And a fog reverser
Bat Trap:Robin strung up on London tower bridge while Batgirl is in the dungeon
Final Thoughts:I was dreading this one. So Batman and Robin go to London. There are some strange robberies no one can unravel. Thank goodness Gordon and Barbara are going too. Apparently our villains can create there own fog which masks there getaways. They’re cute but don’t have much going for them. I like that Batman mentions how Batgirls constant help is starting to make it look like they can’t fight there own battles. He’s also figured out Alfred knows more about Batgirl then he is saying but agrees to respect that. And yes of course she’s there too. After nothing happens in part 1, in part 2 our villains are after the crown jewels because of course they are. What else would they be after? Batgirl finds the stolen items before getting captured while Batman is tied up in an English Pub and Robin overwhelmed by girls.Yes, fan girs are an opponent in this one. Beatles gag? Fogg has a device which can wipe a person’s mind, and uses it on Batman. But Alfred finds him and helps Batman remember. Good thing Alfred was around, or else we could have had an interesting idea to explore rather than wasting five minutes. Part 3 is the “thrilling” conclusion where Robin beats the African Death Bee (which totally looks real, no really!). Batman saves Batgirl (the two working together is kind of cool) and the three finally captures the villains ending this stupid episode. There was another female who switched from good to bad and was bland it was barely worth mentioning her.
Grade:D+ after using every English stereotype there is we get a story that is so slow. Not as bad as a I thought (the Bewitched one’s were much worse) but not much.
