Batman (1966) Episode 108

Episodes 108

Catwoman’s Dressed to Kill

Plot:Catwoman targets the fashion industry on an attempt to steal the Golden Fleece

Guest Stars:Eartha Kitt as Catwoman

Trivia: Technically her episode with the Joker was filmed first, but I like they aired this first instead we can get reintroduced to the character. This Catwoman is a little different and of course the sexual tension is gone (60’s you know).

Niitpick:So here comes the truth. I was never a big fan of Eartha Kitt as Catwoman. Nothing to do with race or anything, I just liked Newmar more. And I hated that someone else played the character. However, watching this again I have to say she really puts her heart into it. It’s no wonder she was as memorable as the two ladies before her. Her spin on Catwoman makes her much nastier than Newmar’s, and Kitt sells it beautifully!

Bat Silliness:Catwoman does the unthinkable and ruins women’s hair! Batman and Robin keep there eyes covered in a women’s dressing room, until one tells them it’s ok because they're all clothed. Ah modest to the end.

Bat Gadget:Batman has a pen light that alerts him that the Bat Phone is buzzing.

Bat Trap:Batgirl gets a real trap, a buzz saw

Final Thoughts:I guess they haven’t referenced the modeling industry. Catwoman is after high fashion clothes. Why? To steal the Golden Fleece which is worth a fortune. It sure seems to be Catwoman’s MO to pull small crimes as a way to working up to a large score. Catwoman plans to trap Batgirl so she is best dressed. So Batman and Robin are easily trapped and rescued by Batgirl (who is getting tired of her helping them like they’re helpless), Then Catwoman succeeds in trapping Batgirl so she can keep Batman and Robin busy rescuing her while she pulls off her theft. So how can Batman be in two places at the same time? Alfred. Yeah, something different right? And of course Batgirl meets with Batman and Robin in time to end Catwoman’s plan.

Grade:C, not sexist at all
