Batman (1966) Episode 110&111

Episodes 110 & 111

The Funny Feline Felonies/The Joke’s on Catwoman

Plot:Catwoman and Joker team up to find some gunpowder

Guest Stars:Eartha Kitt as Catwoman and Cesar Romero as The Joker

Trivia:Catwoman has a cat mobile in this one. It’s kinda lame.

Niitpick:I gave credit for the Catwoman solo outing coming first but did this episode have to be two episodes later? She was just arrested! Also as I mentioned before these awful sets really display the budget trouble the show was having.

Bat Silliness:Catwoman shoots a message into Gordon’s office and Batman and Robin crawl on the floor kinda awkwardly. Batgirl rides along in the Batmobile which is “cozy”. Offscreen however.

Bat Gadget:Batman has anti blast Bat Powder (uh huh).

Bat Trap:Joker is shocked Batman is alive at one point, except the death trap he was to have been put in was cut out of the episode. Oops.

Final Thoughts:The last team up on the series and it’s a pretty good one. The two have nice chemistry. We begin with Joker being paroled for good behavior. Sure. I wont mention how stupid this tease is when the previous tag showed Joker was already working with Catwoman. Sigh. “Surprisingly” Catwoman picks up the paroled Joker. (she pretends to kidnap him to keep the ruse alive). I was liking this until we see Batgirl takes a clue from Batman and Robin to solve the crime herself. Why? Don’t worry Batman didn’t miss her taking it, he never misses anything. The plan is to get the gunpowder and attack the Federal Depository Building and loot it. Joker asks why not use dynamite, but what fun is that? As usual Catwoman has to steal things to work up to her big score. First Batman and Robin try to stop them, and fail so Batgirl rescues them. Then Batgirl fails, so Batman and Robin have to rescue her. Nah she helps herself of course. Then finally the villains are stopped, but we have ten more minutes of episode! So we take a sharp right turn and get this court scene which is bizarre. They had a good story going! The villains are found not guilty, until Batman realizes a juror is actually one of Catwoman’s moles. Then the villains go to prison. What was the point of that?

Grade:B, Good episode but the grade was held back because the plot clearly didn’t fill the show and the fact that Joker is useless here. He’s only here so Catwoman can exposit to him. Even the whole “paroled and going to reform” thing is kinda dropped. And what a relied, a library scene in the end! I was missing that place (ugh). Kidding aside, Batgirl’s inclusion in these stories is starting to feel more natural which I like.
