#10.Penny (The Big Bang Theory)
This is kind of cheating since she was a main character. But Penny
was Sheldon and Leonard’s neighbor and this played into a lot of
episodes especially in the early years. And give her credit for being a
good neighbor.
#9.The Jeffersons (All in the Family)
I am not sure where George and Louise fit because while George and
Archie Bunker were fighting, Louise and Edith Bunker were friends. So I
will put them here since they were so popular they got a spin-off which
was did very well! 11 seasons making it one the most successful sitcoms
ever, spin-off or not.
#8.Winnie Cooper
She was the sweetest, kindest girl in the whole world. Of couese Kevin had the hots for her!
#7.Mr.Feeny (Boy Meets World)
I never understood how or why Mr.Feeny was the neighbor to the Mathew’s clam but he was and was always there to give advice.
#6.Mrs.Poole (The Hogan Family)
Edie McClurg took a character who could have been annoying and gave
her heart and warmth, so much that she was the bext character on the
show. Credt has to go to th e creators for this since McClurg played
basically the same character on “Small Wonder” and there she was
annoying and kinda mean.
#5.Rhoda Morgenstern (Mary Tyler Moore)
It doesn’t surprise me at all that they spun this character off,
because she was a great character. Valerie Harper knew how to play Rhoda
tough a nails, but with a very clear soft side.
#4.The Ropers (Three’s Company)
It always fascinated me how close the Ropers were to Jack, Chrissy
and Janet. How did that relationship develop? I get that Roper was
always watching Jack to make sure he was gay. But it still seemed odd.
It didn’t matter though as we enjoyed their bickering, they even got a
spin-off series.
#3.Kramer (Seinfeld)
It would be easy to put him on an annoying neighbor list the way he
barges in and eats Jerry’s food. But I decided that he belongs here
because he’s a decent neighbor when it comes down to it. He’s always
there and ready to help, even his help doesn’t always work out.
#2.Skippy (Family Ties)
Kinda like what I said about Mrs.Poole, Skippy was supposed to be
annoying but Marc Price made him so damn likable! Heck even his lusting
over Mallory came off as innocent. He truly became a secondary member of the Keaton family.
#1.Wilson (Home Improvement)
Wilson is almost a perfect neighbor. He is always there for advice.
He hardly ever has a harsh word. And even though we never saw his face
we feel like we got to really know him. This show took what was not only
a cliche but a gimmick also, and gave us a memorable character everyone
loves.
I’ll be back with the flipside of this next time, and we’ll see if a name I missed here pops up there instead!!
What show was Winnie Cooper on?
