#10.Black Canary
I’m going to be in a minority here, but of all the outfits that
Canary has worn I liked the jumpsuit the best. It’s not the most popular
outfit she’d have, but for me that’s what she was wearing when I first
encountered here and I still like that look.
#9.Firestorm
I was introduced to Firestorm on the Super Powers cartoon on Saturday
mornings. And I loved his look. That flame top and cool costume..I
admit, it has been improved on over the years. The classic flame top is a
great look.
#8.Blue Beetle & Booster Gold
These two were always linked so why not just make it a tie? Blue and
Gold were great together and their outfits were both very well put
together. You ever notice they both wear stylized goggles?
#7.Flash
The Flash is such a simple idea but it works very well. The Scarlet
Speedster indeed! Wally West would later revanp the look but you can’t
improve on the classic. Although that chin strap he has these days is
really lame.
#6.Spider-Man
What?? MARVEL??? OH MY GOD!! Ok all kidding aside, I did kind of grow
up with Spider-Man even if I didn’t stick with him. And that costume is
really a perfect blend of red and blue, with the spider web design. I
HATED the black suit.
#5.Wonder Woman
The big problem with Wonder Woman’s look is that it’s always
changing. My favorite, shockingly, is her 80’s era with the double W
symbol on it. Before that it was a bird symbol which never looked good
and after that was….so many changes in design I’d need a whole article
to cover them all.
#4.Batman
I’ll be talking more about Batman and his evolving costume later, but
for now this is the one that I like the best. It’s simple and
straightforward. The gray and blue balance each other out just
perfectly. And I like the yellow circle in the chest, I was sad when DC
took it away.
#3.Iron Man
I mentioned this before but I LOVED the Iron Man action figure I had.
I didn’t know who Tony Stark was or anything like that, but man was
that a kick ass design. And it still is.
#2.Superman
This is the trend setter for the perfect costume. It’s simple and not
over complicated. The colors are balanced just perfectly. The logo is
simple but effective. And no matter how many times creators try to
change it over the years, it always stays pretty much like this. Because
it WORKS. Superman is single-handedly responsible for making capes
awesome.
#1.Green Lantern
It’s hard to believe, but Halloween costumes when I was a kid sucked.
They just had boring slickers with some crap painted on it and the mask
was this cheesy piece of plastic you could bare breath through held in
place by a little string that went around your head which were kept
together by two little staples!! I
always wanted to dress up as Green Lantern, but that was denied me in
the 80’s. I’m glad that kids today if they so choose (or adults). I
loved his costume, the green and black is just perfect. Yes there have
been others, Kyle Rainer’s was really nice, but for me it will always be
the classic Hal Jordan.
Why yes, I did leave off Captain America. So what are your favorites?
Comment and let me know. Wait, what about villains you ask? Hmmmm……
