Batman (1966) Episode 112

Episodes 112

Louie’s Lethal Lilac Time

Plot:Louie plans to corner the lilac perfume market and kidnaps Bruce and Dick

Guest Stars:Milton Berle as Louie The Lilac

Trivia:Aunt Harriett is mentions as being in shock after Bruce and Dick were kidnapped.

Niitpick:This is most definitely a Batgirl episode

Bat Silliness:I love this one. So Bruce and Dick are kidnapped. Batgirl goes to rescue them, but gets into trouble. How can Bruce and Dick possibly change into their costumes to help? No worries, they have their instant unfolding bat costumes, compete with utility belts. Just add warm water!!!!

Bat Gadget:Batgirl has an instant Batgirl room transformer that hides the fact her Batgirl costume is hidden behind a wall. How does that work? I don’t know, magic?

Bat Trap:Batgirl put into a vat where boiling oil will soon cover her

Final Thoughts:In spite of all my complaining about how many times Batgirl has rescued Batman and Robin this is one time I’m willing to let it go. Mostly because this is an idea that was never done before..What happens if Bruce and Dick are kidnapped? The episode begins with Louie kidnapping Bruce and Dick, for whatever reason, so he can get his hands on some valuable merchandise. The goal is to make pricy perfume. And ransom Bruce. Then we get clips of other Batman episodes for some reason I can’t fathom. Maybe to make it seem like Batman and Robin are in the episode more than two minutes? Then we get a scene where Barbara comes very close to figuring that Bruce is Batnan when the red phone goes off when she is in the study talking to Alfred. Batgirl figures out where Louie is and goes to rescue Bruce and Dick while Alfred sends the Batmobile by remote. Batgirl is knocked out fast so Bruce and Dick manage to get free and don their costumes (using Batman’s latest invention) and the episode ends. I was hoping maybe since the duo had been out for much of he episode they could fight alone, but no of course not.

Grade:C+ Much better than the other Louie episode story wise but why is Berle playing it so straight? He at least had some charm in the other one.
