Ten Least Favorite Members of Justice League of America

So I talked about my favorite characters in the Legion and the JSA. The next logical discussion is the Justice League. I have loved the idea of the JLA for as long as I can remember. There is just one problem, the best heroes are all characters I have discussed a thousand times already. So maybe to discuss the JLA, the best thing to do is discuss the members I do not like. The heroes that either contributed nothing or were just plain uninteresting. And yes, I am covering all versions of the team through the years. Well, ok not all. Through the 90's the team was formed and disbanded a bunch of time. Since New 52 there have been a million different versions of the League. That being said, here are my ten least favorite league members.

The JLA was created in the silver age by writer Gardner Fox. The idea was to reimagine the JSA, which we discussed before. And to be fair, they did pre date the Avengers by a few year's.

Snapper Carr

I brought this guy up before but it worth going over him again. Back in the Golden Age it was of course common for every super hero to have a kid sidekick. This applied to team's as well. JSA had Johnny Thunder, and JLA had Snapper Carr. He was annoying and useless, and DC has tried to reinvent the character many times over the years.

Red Tornado

It was hard to pick a member from the original line up because of course that line up is solid. Nothing but A listers! As the roster grew one new member was Red Tornado. An android who could spin his body into a tornado. And was always, always whining. Yeah, imagine if Data whined every time he couldn't understand something and you had this character. He did have his awesome moments and they eventually changed him to be an air elemental but man he was annoying

Vibe

I know that in modern times this character has had a cool make over, but man was he annoying as all heck in the 80's. It was the infamous Justice League Detroit era which gave us this character, and while I give credit for having a more ethnic character did they have to be so stereotypical? The guy is a rude jerk and only redeems himself two minutes before he's finally killed off.

General Glory

After JLA Detroit came the JLI days. There was a lot of really good stuff in this era, even if team didn't have the heavy hitters the lineup was still really solid. However as time went on,  man was some of it bad too. This was a Captain America knock off (not pastiche, knockoff!) who was way over the top off with his patriotism. It was fine as a joke for an issue but as a recurring member..no. Of course we alos had Justice League Europe and the membership was solid there too.

L-Ron

Remember how I said the JLI days were silly? At first he was a servant to the stupid villain Manga Khan (looooong story) and someone must have liked him because soon he was sold and working for the League, kinda taking the place of Oberon. It's no wonder this whole run was given a soft reboot and lost the humor.

Maxima

This was a villain that never really clicked, though creators really really tried. First she came from another planet to make Superman her mate. Then she worked with Brainiac. After that she became a member of the League, and while she was powerful it never stuck. To be fair that whole era of JLA was kind of meh, when it lost the humor and still didn't have the heavy hitters there just wasn't anything good in the book. When the series ended she was soon back to trying to romance Superman, before finally being killed off.

Silver Sorceress & Blue Jay

Originally a Scarlett Witch homage who came from another planet, where she and her friends tried to help prevent Earth's nuclear destruction. She didn't last long with the team either. As for Blue Jay..he was even more boring.

Bloodwynd

The New Titans had created Phantasm, a mysterious new character who's origins were unknow. I guess the creators of JLI liked that idea, because they did it too with Bloodwynd. Same idea too, at first his identity was a mystery. Then we find out it was really someone we already know in disguise. Then they tried to create a whole new story for the character but no one cared and the characters just kind went away.

Plastic Man

That run finally end and was replaced with another team post Zero Hour. A team so awful I won't even dignify it here. Then in 1996, it was a return to glory with the big heroes finally coming back At least this was the team I wanted to see! To bad I stopped reading comics by then. As for Plastic Man why is he here? .I never liked him. Simple.

Cyborg

After the 90's the team kept changing and evolving, especially with the various reboot's and event comics. These days the JLA is pretty solid, except for Cyborg! Not because he isn't badass, which he is, but why are people always forcing him into the JLA? He's a Teen Titan! This has been a thing since the early 80's when he suddenly appeared on Super Friends. To be fair his inclusion into the movie wasn't bad, to bad they hardly did anything with him.

Despite some of the bad stuff the Justice League of America is still awesome. The World's Greatest Superheroes!
