Top 10 (All-Time) Favorite Internet Reviewers

The time has come my friends. I have wanted to do this but kept putting it off, mostly because let’s be honest my first two slots aren’t that shocking. But this is something that deserves to finally be discussed, so here we go.

Internet reviewing is a huge thing now and while I have stated before there was a time when Nostalgia Critic was all I watched, there are others I like and watch (or watched if they are no longer around). So here are my ten favorite internet reviewers, and yes there are some on here who technically have retired and do not review anymore. And yes a majority of these come from Channel Awesome, I have watched stuff on other sites including Agony Booth but never really cared enough to go back. I did like Sofie Liv, where did she go?

#10.Todd in the Shadows

This was the hardest slot to fill, several people could have fit in here. Why Todd? He seems like a nice enough guy, but man do I disagree with some of the things he says. He clearly knows about music but his tastes are very…rigid. Still it is nice to have music reviews and I enjoy some his stuff like his Madonna retrospective. I have watched his reviews more than once, though usually those are crossovers, and so it seems fitting he should get the #10 spot.

#9.Confused Matthew

Yes I know that Confused Matthew has retired, but he is on this list for one special reason. He was the first reviewer I ever heard. Granted his style is kind or harsh, he is a little to hard on movies at times. Apparently he’s never heard of seeing a movie for fun, it doesn’t always have to be a life changing masterpiece. But I did enjoy his stuff and kind of miss him around here.

#8.Rowdy Reviewer

If you read my stuff it should come as no surprise I like TV Trash. Rowdy is a good reviewer too, though he’s high on the list because while he does great reviews there are some things lacking. His story line stuff is goofy and he is clearly reading his lines. But this is nitpicking (I have millions of typo’s who am I to talk?) and truth is if I did video reviews he’s the one person I would love to work with. It’s nice to see someone review TV, why don’t more?

#7.Phelous

Sigh, this is one of those reviewers that I want to like. I really do! But man is he so annoying. His reviews end up crazy long because he stops every other sentence to dub over the dialogue. The dubbing is annoying. He does the same gags (how many times does he do that bit where he pretends the movie is over?) and some of the stuff he reviews does not appeal to me. When he isn’t trying to hard I enjoy his stuff. And his Bootlegzone stuff is really good. And I know his normal persona is not only a nice guy but pretty talented too. But man does he get annoying!

#6.SFDebris
sfdebris
Kind of like when I found Nostalgia Critic, when I first stumbled onto SFDebris I was up late catching up. The difference is that Debris is not nearly as entertaining. And some of his snark pisses me off, especially his impression of Captain Janeway. Seriously what Voyager did he watch? But I have to admit he is very intelligent and his reviews are really good. I still watch (listen to?) his Star Trek stuff and while I don’t always agree with everything, usually he’s right on the money.

#5.Obscurus Lupa/Cinema Snob

Tie, why? Because for the most part I have no interest in the things they review. Lupa reviews B movie crap that I never heard of, and Snob reviews porn which isn’t that interesting. Over the last couple years they have tried to do more, but I very rarely watch their stuff more than once. And Lupa’s new show is really boring, why does she just talk for a half hour with no script at all? I have liked Brad Jones more as time goes on I have to admit, but it took me a  long time to become a regular viewer of Cinema Snob. it helps he reviews more mainstream stuff these days.

#4.Nostalgia Chick

The final four are for the reviewers I like to watch over and over again. And while Lindsay doesn’t really do reviews anymore, I really liked a lot of her stuff. Yeah she covered “girlie” things but she was great at analyzing stuff and giving a very good review. I really miss her old days when she did more, including storylines, but I guess some people grow past things sometimes. Nostalgia Chick was easily one of the strongest people on Channel Awesome, once  upon a time.

#3.Film Brain

I used to watch his stuff over and over, until he stopped doing Bad Movie Beatdown. And sorry, but only doing one a year (if that!) does not count as “still doing it”. It’s to bad to because I really liked that show. Film Brain has a unique personality and yes I could see how some can find him annoying but I always enjoyed it. His projector shows is decent enough but since I don’t see movies very often I usually don’t really care enough to check it out. His style has evolved and to be honest is more boring than it used to be.

#2.Linkara

Is there anything else to say about this guy that I haven’t? It is, quite honestly, one of my favorite shows (internet or regular TV). I love watching the old stuff and still watch the new every Monday. I commented before that last year wasn’t the best year of AT4W, but I am happy to say this year has been much better. His storylines are great, he reviews something I love (unless it’s Patreon nonsense, why can’t people get he’s a COMIC reviewer??), and has a very charming personality. I’m not kidding when I say that I feel like if we knew each other in the real world we would probably be friends. I know that sounds stalker-ish, but I hate the cold in New England so I’m sure not going to Minnesota anytime soon! Seriously though, I love the show. What else can I say?

#1.Nostalgia Critic/Bum Reviews
Nostalgia_Critic GFG
What else can I say? I have already gone on and one about the Critic, and there’s no point in saying anymore. Discovering the Critic was one of the best things ever, and I will always be a fan. Even if his clipless reviews kind of suck. Doug Walker is one of the few people in the world I would truly like to meet and shake his hand. No kidding.  I also admire his other stuff, the anniversary movies were awesome. One thing I am not sure I ever mentioned is another Doug Walker review show, Bum Reviews. Chester A Bum is a lovable character and I have watched those short reviews way more times than I would like to admit. Even when it’s a movie I’ve never seen the reviews are great entertainment (of course when I have seen the movie it’s even better). I still remember the first time I watched a Bum Review I really thought that whatever the movie was was the greatest movie he had ever seen. Course I soon realized he says that all the time. What about Ask That Guy? Nah that was never a favorite of mine.

So, where is Spoony? Never been a big fan. Don’t care about video games. Blockbuster Buster? Yeah I never liked him though I do watch his stuff sometimes. Last Angry Geek should have made it but he is kind of dull to be honest. Sage I simply can’t stand,  and Diamanada Hagan? Ah no. Mike J is good but his show has almost no production value. Though he could have easily taken the #10 spot, it was close. I do like Shark Jumping but so far I only watch when they cover things I am interested in which isn’t true of the others on this list.

Did I miss your favorite? How would your list go? Comment and let me know.
