Batman is an awesome character. He is a normal guy but is smart as a
whip with all kinds of cool gadgets and special skills. He can team up
with pretty much anyone in the DC Universe from Superman to The Joker.
And very rarely does a match up seem to far fetched to make sense, when
the hero is magical, supernatural, or even a villain.
In fact he can also team up with pretty much any non-DC characters.
almost easier than Superman because Superman’s god like powers and
abilities make it harder for some to work with him. Batman doesn’t have
such limitations, and if they can’t match wits physically or
intellectually you can marvel at their different personalities as they
clash.
Here are ten Batman team-up’s with characters from companies other than DC.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I mentioned this one in passing last time and since it’s still coming
out I won’t offer an opinion on it. Though from I see they did take it
seriously, and maybe it wasn’t as stupid as it sounds.
Captain America
The problem with Captain America is that he is very much stuck in the
40’s. So the solution is to make this a throwback tale, with Batman
appearing as he did in the 40’s teaming up with Captain America. It’s a
pretty good story as they beat The Joker and Red Skull. We also find out
that Joker may be insane, but he’s an American dammit!
The Hulk
This is one of my favorite comic books, never mind crossover’s. It was
just so well done because it was done as a regular issue of both books.
The fact the two don’t share a universe? So what! The two characters
really interact well, which you would never expect, and they fight and
team up againstThe Joker and Shaper of World’s.
Spider-Man
There were two of these and they were pretty good. You would think this
team up would never work. Spider-Man is upbeat and light, Batman is grim
and dark. And yet the two really work well off each other. Course they
do have tragedies that inspired them into being in common, which is
certainly something to delve into. One story they fougt Joker and
Carnage. The other involved Ra’s Al Ghul and The KIngpin and I didn’t
like that one as much.
Sherlock Holmes
Here’s a random one! To celebrate the anniversary of Detective Comics DC
has a big story which brought characters that had appeared before in
the book, like Elongated Man. But the oddest choice was Sherlock Holmes.
Granted we saw him in flashbacks mostly but he does appear in the end.
Ok maybe this was cheating but they can’t all be from Marvel and Dark
Horse.
Spawn
Oh Frank Miller, you’re so…awful. Yeah we got another odd team-up when
Batman and Spawn teamed up. Not gonna lie, only know this one from the
AT4W episode. And it looks like it’s pretty bland. They fight and then
work together…yawn. The second one, yes there was a second one, was
supposedly better but I never read it.
Aliens & Predator
Ok this wasn’t a team-up per se but it’s still Batman appearing with
characters from a different company. I actually wouldn’t mind checking
this out someday. I read Superman/Aliens and like it. And they must have
been good Batman/Aliens had one sequel and Batman/Predator had two!
The Punisher
The first almost shouldn’t count, because the Batman in this story is
Jean Paul Valley. You see, when Batman has his broken back Valley, also
known as Azrael, took over and….yeah this is a miss for me. And yes the
Bruce Wayne Batman also teamed up with Punisher in a story I never read.
I get the conflict, since Batman would be appalled with house The
Punisher operates.
Judge Dredd
Of all of these on this list, this makes the least sense. Yeah even more
than TMNT. What the hell is this? Maybe I’m just thinking of the movie,
it was a comic book first and they made four of them so I guess they
were good.I did read one and it was....bad.
Tarzan
When Superman met Tarzan, it was an imaginary elseworld story. This one
is done as a real Batman story, and him having to go to Africa chasing
Catwoman isn’t far fetched at all. Ok much like with Captain America
this is Batman from the 30’s, but still at least it’s still Batman. This
was a four issue mini-series.
Crossover’s are so much fun, especially when it involves other companies. But, really?
