This was written in 2012, in a rush. That happens a lot I’ll just kind of throw the article together and post it. Those who read my articles a lot may be able to tell the one’s that get a little more care than the others. This one is just bad. Granted it was an easy idea, but it doesn’t work for one little reason. no pics and no videos. I’m sure there were videos, or at least links, at some point. So here it is again a little cooler this time.
One of the coolest part of some cartoons is when the hero appears in a cool transformation sequence. Some shows just have the heroes mobilize in a cool way, but others will have a character who is not so amazing transform into the cool hero in a flashy sequence which usually has the coolest animation and is obviously where the money went to. Here are my favorite of these. These are the kick ass moments that we lived for, we waited for these moments and loved every second of them. This can happen in live action to, like on The Hulk. I wanted to show a clip, but alas could not find a good one.
#5.Captain Planet
Yeah, this show was lame. It was preachy and a bit contrived. But the scene where Captain Planet is summoned is a favorite, and is the one cool thing this show generated. Let our powers combine! Wind! Water! Heart! Whatever that meant…
#4.Sailor Moon
It took me ages to figure just what he heck this was. I’d heard of it, but that was about all. Course now I know, and the anime is real popular with girls. Which may be one reason I never caught on. Here is the big transformation scene that was shown in every…single…episode. Moon! Prism! Power!!
#3. Power Rangers
Yeah same as Sailor Moon, I knew it existed but never watched it. Well, except that I did catch a few episode in college. A friend liked it, don’t ask me why. GO GO POWER RANGERS! It’s morphin time!
#2.Voltron
Hell yeah! When the lions all merged together to form the robot Voltron, you stood up and cheered! This little 80’s cartoon hasn’t really stood the test of time, but damn it was awesome! I liked the action figure more than the cartoon, but still that transformation sequence is awesome. Was it a rule that anime needs to have these? Oh and that line about Voltron not standing the test of time was from original article, the series has actually made a return on Netflix. GO VOLTRON FORCE!!
#1. He-Man and She-RA
This is the gold standard, this is the transformation which set the tone for the other four and any others I missed on here. Prince Adam turning into He-Man was the coolest moment of any episode of Master of the Universe, it was a great transformation because it was cool and awesome, but not so long and dragged out you got bored watching it every episode. People grew up playing Star Wars as kids, well I played He-Man and loved t. It was done just right so every time you say him say “By The Power of Greyskull” you got excited. She-Ra was pretty cool to, but a copy can’t beat an original. I HAVE THE POWER!!!!
Like Voltron, She-Ra has renewed life on Netflix. This video has both transformation scenes.
That’s it, thanks for reading
"Captain Planet" will with no doubt come across "lame" and "preachy" to grown-ups. But I loved that show when I was ten years old, so I guess that it worked fine for its intended main audience: kids.
ReplyDeleteAs for all the other shows on your list, I have not really watched any of them. So I can't say anything about them.
